Palo Santo

Palo Santo is Spanish for Bursera Graveolens, a wild tree native from the Yucatán Peninsula to Peru and Venezuela.

Also known as Holy Wood, Palo Santo is found in the seasonally dry tropical forests of Mexico, Venezuela, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and on the Galápagos Islands. The ritual of burning Palo Santo comes from Incan tradition that says the smoke from the wood, burned during spiritual ceremonies, is medicinal.

Palo Santo is believed to Combat negative energy and help clear away negative thoughts and misfortune.

To smudge using Palo Santo, light end of stick until you have a flame. Let flame smoulder and smudge around any areas of your space or body that need cleansing.
